The single screen experience mod by RTG (M-1) has been developed extensively (not vibe coded) and now includes 60 fps support (thereof the name of this update, plus it now supports 16:9 widescreen, TONS of quality of life improvements and of course full single-screen support. I highly recommend that you try his mod (included with the pack!), it's amazingly great!

Since the last update in September, the Single Screen Experience Mod by M-1 now includes the following features:

  • 60 FPS visual interpolation: The original 30 Hz game is smoothened out to 60 FPS. Gameplay speed and game logic stay exactly the same as the original, which means there are no bugs caused by it.

  • Real 16:9 widescreen: Selectable aspect ratios (16:9) and a configurable field of view.

  • Free camera: Configurable 360 degree gameplay free camera, like in modern Zeldas.

  • Dynamic lighting: Dynamic lights for both characters and environment.

  • 3D rain

  • Project Restoration-Style Item Switching

  • Q.O.L like Quick Put Away, Aiming Reticle, Roll Dash, Bigger Wallet and more

  • Mirror Mode

  • Draw Distance Boost (up to 500%!)

  • And much, much more...

One other focus of 6.0 has been to add complete support for the PC ports of OoT 3D, some of which brings a huge suite of improvements over the emulated 3DS version. I’m incredibly excited that the texture pack now fully supports them. I'm not endorsing any specific PC port, but whichever one you use should work with my pack now as long as it supports custom textures.

PC port improvements over emulation:

If you’ve only played OoT 3D through an emulator before, this is a big step up. Here’s what the port brings to the table:

  • Modern Vulkan renderer: Ambient occlusion, shadows, water reflections and anti-aliasing, with the expensive effects running at half resolution so 4K doesn’t require an upscaler.

  • 60/90 FPS visual interpolation: The original 30 Hz game is smoothened out to 60 or 90 FPS. Gameplay speed and game logic stay exactly the same as the original.

  • Real widescreen: Selectable aspect ratios (16:9, 21:9 and the original 5:3) and a configurable field of view.

  • Free camera and photo mode: Configurable gameplay free camera, plus a photo mode for screenshots.

  • Full keyboard/mouse and controller support: Plus named settings profiles, audio options and save states.

  • Ambient Occlusion (without reshade) & modern lighting: This makes a huge difference in improving the quality of the lighting and adds depth to objects in the game.

  • Procedural grass: A lot of grass, possibly too much (configurable in the F1 menu)

  • Custom texture support: If the port reads Azahar-compatible custom textures, then my pack works right out of the box with version 6.0 and beyond.

Most of the presentation is configurable, so if you don’t like something, you can probably turn it off. Some effects can be demanding, so adjust them to suit your GPU. Please also note that these PC ports are still an experimental beta and new updates are coming out regularly. And like usual, you can still use the pack just fine in emulators like before, none of that has changed!

Of course, 6.0 adds a lot more than just that, too, so here’s some more details:

350+ New Textures!

This update includes over 350 new 4K textures covering all parts of the game. Several locations have been completely overhauled this time around, including the Shadow Temple, Zora’s Domain, Kakariko Village, Ganon’s Castle, the Graveyard and Ice Cavern. There are lots of other new and remade textures sprinkled throughout the rest of the game as well. A lot of missing textures are now also covered, so the whole experience should feel a lot more polished now.

New UI textures

More of the UI has been upgraded in this version, with new textures that match the original style even closer.

The N64 Gerudo Crescent is back!

The modern Gerudo insignia has been replaced with the original N64 Gerudo Crescent everywhere in the game where it’s present. It’s a small change, but it makes the Gerudo feel a lot more true to the original version.

ReShade depth buffer fix

Thanks to @purplerock on Discord and @jakedowns, the ReShade depth buffer no longer displays 90 degrees to the side in Azahar! Thank you both so much for the fix, it makes a big difference for anyone using depth-based effects (like ambient occlusion, depth of field etc.)

And many bug fixes, optimizations and minor changes...

Various fixes and improvements have been made to many textures. Of course, there’s always a chance I might have missed some things, so if you encounter any issues or oversights with the pack, please let me know over on Discord or send me a private message here!

How to use the pack with PC ports

On Windows, PC ports usually reads its custom textures straight from Azahar’s textures folder. That means the pack uses the exact same files and the same folder as the Azahar version, so if you already have it set up in Azahar, the PC port will pick it up automatically.

The installation instructions remain the same if you emulate the game like in previous versions.

Updating from an older version

Updating from an older version is super simple: replace the old texture pack files in your emulators custom textures folder with the new ones. Your saves are not affected by the texture pack.

That's mostly it for this update- Enjoy!

There is also a 4K version available! The 4K version includes higher quality textures than the 1080p version, and will work on all displays- even those that don't display in 4K resolution. It will still look better than the 1080p version, no matter the display!

Please feel free to try it out!

(The texture pack does not work on real 3DS hardware)

I am only able to make things like this thanks to your support, so from the bottom of my heart, thank you for helping me do what I love!

❤️
