Zelda: OoT 3D 4K Texture Pack 5.0 - The Single-Screen Update Changelog

Good morning! 🔆

I'm really excited to finally announce the release of the next major version of the pack: version 5.0!

The focus of 5.0 has primarily been to add complete support for the new Single-Screen mod by RTG (M-1), which completely transforms how the game is played. No longer do you need to fiddle with two screens in the 3DS version, simply enjoy it with a single screen- without ever having to use the bottom screen or touch functionality ever again! The mod also adds a bunch of awesome Q.O.L features (like Project Restoration does for MM3D), and it has in my opinion turned the 3DS version into the definitive way to experience OoT (even better than SoH!)

Of course, 5.0 adds a lot more than just that, too, so here's some more details:

250+ New Textures!

This update includes over 250 new 4K textures which have been remade from the ground up for this version. This includes both environment textures such as the ground, walls, stone tiles and bricks, wooden panels etc. It also includes many new interior textures, completely overhauling several locations, particularly in and around Kokiri Forest, Zora's River, Gerudo Valley, Death Mountain, Lon Lon Ranch, Market, Temple of Time, Lake Hylia, The Fishing Hole (finally), Hyrule Castle and Hyrule Field. There are tons of miscellaneous textures as well that have been completely remade, such as different types of wood and bark, many NPC textures, grass and groundcover, clovers, flowers, tree trunks, ladders, vines and many more.

Of course, the perhaps biggest upgrade in 5.0 over past versions is the completely remade UI. Practically all elements in the UI have been either upgraded or completely remade from scratch, to not only be higher quality than before but to also match the original style much closer. Since the UI is now visible on the top screen at all times, I felt this was a particularly important area to focus on for this version.

HUGE NEWS: HD Text in dialogue messages - Finally!

It's true! Thanks to work from RTG (same guy who made the single player mod), it's now possible to upscale the in-game text to 4x the default resolution. I've taken this opportunity to add improved HD text for all dialogue messages in the game. This has stood out as a sore thumb against all other textures for years at this point, so it feels amazing to finally have this "final piece" of the puzzle solved. Enjoy!

And lots of help from Skilar, fantastic as usual.

The pack now includes beautifully hand painted icons for both the Master Sword and Hylian Shield in the UI meticulously hand painted by fellow artist @SkilarBabcock. It also includes his beautiful Hylian Shield texture, and it looks absolutely stunning. They previously contributed the gorgeous textures for Link in my Twilight Princess texture pack, and they're incredibly talented. Like previous updates, it helps it all comes together really nicely and makes the whole pack feel a lot more polished and complete. The details all add up!

And many bugs fixes, optimizations and minor changes...

Minor issues from the previous version has been fixed. This includes mismatched textures, texture seams visible in some places, missing textures and more. Of course, there's always a chance I might have missed some, so if you encounter and issues or oversights with the pack, please let me know over on Discord or send me a private message here!

There is also a 4K version available! The 4K version includes higher quality textures than the 1080p version, and will work on all displays- even those that don't display in 4K resolution. It will still look better than the 1080p version, no matter the display!
